Staffordshire pottery was an immediate success when brought to America in the 18th century.  This ceramic plate ornament in the Staffordshire style celebrates the Capital City of Washington, D.C.  The U.S. Capitol building is in the center surrounded by the White House, the Washington Monument, Mount Vernon, the Lincoln Memorial, the U.S. Supreme Court Building and portraits of George and Martha Washington.  Ornament is approximately 2 ½” in diameter.
