Washington as Colonel of the Virginia Regiment Framed Print

Washington as Colonel of the Virginia Regiment Framed Print

Price: $120.00

In 1772 Charles Willson Peale painted the only portrait of George Washington made prior to the Revolutionary War.  Peale depicts an impressive and still youthful man of 40, a figure who had a commanding presence with his six foot height, natural athleticism and admirable deportment.  Martha Washington had wanted a canvas of her husband to hang beside the portraits of herself and her children, in the west parlor at Mount Vernon, and Peale happened to be touring the colonies at the time, searching for portrait commissions.

This image has been reproduced in fine art lithographic print with a canvas textured finish.  The print is protected with a UV retardant covering and is printed on recycled paper. The portrait measures 15” x 17”, including the frame.
