Staffordshire pottery was an immediate success when brought to America in the 18th century.  Mount Vernon was a very popular image on these souvenir plates.  This ceramic plate ornament in the Staffordshire style features the east front of the Mount Vernon Mansion. Although the design is named "pink Staffordshire", the color is more of a reddish rose. The ornament is approximately 2 ½” in diameter.
