No more messy bubbling over when you use your Mount Vernon Pie Bird!  Place your Pie Bird in the middle of the pie shell before filling.  After filling around the Pie Bird, drape crust over the top of the beak, pushing down slightly.  The Pie Bird will now release steam during baking!  No need for slits in your crust!
