The design of this fine enamel pin was inspired by a 19th century log-cabin pattern quilt in the Mount Vernon collection from Audley Plantation, home of Martha Washington’s great-grandson. The original quilt was pieced, using clothing fragments from George and Martha Washington and family. This pin combines navy blue, rose and green enamels, skillfully applied by hand to polished gilded metal. The rich vibrant colors are derived from the same materials found in the stained glass windows of yesterday.
Pin measures 1 ¾” square.
