Amaranthus Caudatus. Love Lies Bleeding is a tender annual that can reach three to five feet in height. It displays long, slender, drooping red blooms that last all summer long. It is a true “everlasting”, meaning its flower parts retain their form and color for a long time. Love Lies Bleeding can be planted in any garden soil. It likes full sun and plenty of moisture during the heat of the summer.
Sow outdoors when the danger of frost is past. Germination will occur in 10 to 15 days. Love Lies Bleeding was grown in the colonies in the early 1700s.
Heirloom seeds are collected from the gardens and grounds of George Washington's Mount Vernon and cleaned and packaged by hand.
