The Jefferson Memorial is a shrine to Thomas Jefferson, third President of the United States and the author of the Declaration of Independence. The memorial was designed using classical architectural style, which Jefferson introduced to the U.S. It was dedicated on April 13, 1943, the 200th anniversary of Jefferson's birth.
