This original necktie design is inspired by the shell-patterned needlepoint cushions which Martha Washington created over a period of 36 years. She busied herself with this needlework during the long winter at Valley Forge. One cushion is on display in the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center at Mount Vernon.
This 100% silk tie has golden shells on a medium blue background. Tie is 3 1/2" wide.
