Throughout his life, George Washington always maintained his love for Mount Vernon. In 1790 he wrote to a friend, "I can truly say I had rather be at home at Mount Vernon with a friend or two about me, than to be attended at the seat of government by the officers of State and representatives of every power in Europe." This white porcelain plate has a dark blue rim edged in gold. Mount Vernon and this special quote are in the center of the plate in gold along with George Washington's signature.  The plate is 8" in diameter.  Gift boxed.
