George Washington Enamel Cufflinks

George Washington Enamel Cufflinks

Price: $45.00

In jewelry, George Washington preferred what was simple and utilitarian. These are adaptations from English cufflinks, circa 1790, which were worn by George Washington. The original cufflinks, gold and enameled, are on display in Washington Style Gallery of The Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center at Mount Vernon. These gold- tone handsome adaptations are 22kt gold plate over copper and have the same navy and white enamel design of the originals. The enamel faces of the oval cufflinks measure approximately ½” x ¾” and are finished in French (or vitreous) enamel that is hand applied over the copper and fired in a kiln to set the colors.
Each piece may be fired up to 10 times in the kiln resulting in an elegant but durable finish.

In a navy gift box with provenance card included.
