Blackberry Lily Seed Pack

Blackberry Lily Seed Pack

Price: $3.00

Belmacanda Chinensis.  Blackberry Lily, also known as Leopard Flower, is a hardy herbaceous perennial that is a member of the Iris family. It grows to three feet in height and in July, bears orange blossoms spotted with red.  Following the flower, the plant displays the ornamental black seed clusters from which its gets its name.

Blackberry Lily can be propagated by division or from seed.  The seed requires no special treatment and may be sown in rich, sandy soil during May. Germination occurs in 20 to 30 days.  Blackberry Lily was first cultivated in China in 1823.

Heirloom seeds are collected from the gardens and grounds of George Washington's Mount Vernon and cleaned and packaged by hand.
