Mayflower Pole Bean Seed Pack

Mayflower Pole Bean Heirloom Seed Pack

Price: $3.00

Phaseolus Vulgaris. Mayflower is an heirloom pole bean that produces good yields of green beans. These all-purpose beans are prized for their great flavor, have superior quality and are string-less. Use as a fresh green bean or dry. This heirloom variety is said to have been brought over on the Mayflower in 1620.

Not cold tolerant, beans need warm soil of 65 degrees or higher. Grows best in full sun with well watered soil. Sow beans directly in spring when soil temperatures warm.Soak beans overnight in moist towels or moist vermiculite then sow 3-4 beans per pole 1” deep. Allow 100 days to harvest.

Heirloom seeds are collected from the gardens and grounds at George Washington’s Mount Vernon and cleaned and packaged by hand.
