Great Blue Lobelia Seed Pack

Great Blue Lobelia Flower Seed Pack

Price: $3.00

Lobelia siphilitica. Great blue lobelia is native to the eastern United States and was used medicinally by Native Americans.

This beautiful herbaceous perennial likes moist soil and partially sunny to shady areas. True blue flower spikes, 2-3’ in height, emerge July to September, attracting butterflies and maybe even a hummingbird to the garden! When lobelia siphilitica is happily growing in optimum conditions it will self-sow and naturalize.

Sow seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before planting outside in the early fall or sow seeds directly into the garden. Gently press the seeds into the soil and do not cover as they need light to germinate. Keep moist until they germinate which will be in about 3 weeks at 75 degrees. When the plants are well established they may be propagated by division in the spring or fall.

USDA Zones 4-9.

Heirloom seeds are collected, cleaned and packaged by hand at Mount Vernon.
