This type of lantern is used at "Mount Vernon by Candlelight" tours at Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington.  Visitors have the opportunity to step back in time for a colonial Christmas with Interpreters in 18th century costumes, visit the rarely-seen third floor of the Mansion, sing carols by a roaring bonfire and enjoy hot cider and ginger cookies.
