This original necktie design is inspired by the shell-patterned needlepoint cushions which Martha Washington created over a periods of 26 years.  Mrs. Washington busied herself with this needlework during the long winter at Valley Forge.  One cushion is on display in the Donald W. Reynolds Museun and Education Center at Mount Vernon.

This 100% silk tie has blue colored shells on a mauve background.  Tie is 3 ½” wide.
