This doll has been exquisitely designed and manufactured with love from the 2012 Madame Alexander Collection made exclusively for Mount Vernon and Colonial Williamsburg.
Susanna wears a christening gown inspired by one in The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Collection. The ivory satin gown with elaborate ribbon trim was originally worn in 1763 by the son of the provost of Eaton College in England. This doll is named Susanna, after the provost’s mother.
The original eighteenth-century christening gown consisted of a separate dress and a petticoat. The petticoat could be seen through the open skirt of the dress. Susanna’s dress is a one-piece adaptation of the antique gown.
Susanna is presented in a striped and polka-dotted pink and aqua gift box. The 12” baby doll has small parts. Not recommended for children under 3 years of age.
Madame Alexander Certificate of Authenticity included.
