Each wooden doll is individually hand painted and crafted to a likeness of George and Martha Washington. Throughout his life, George Washington was a surveyor, farmer, husband, horseman, huntsman, statesman, Lieutenant General of the Army and first President of the United States. Martha Dandridge Custis was a young widow with two small children when she married George Washington in 1759. Martha spent her married life entertaining diplomats and tending to the household duties at Mount Vernon and teaching her grandchildren needlework, cooking skills and to play musical instruments.
