The extraordinary machinery shown on this wooden block has been reconstructed and is up and running at George Washington’s Distillery & Gristmill.  George Washington used these drawings of an automated gristmill, from Oliver Evan’s 1795 book “The Young Mill-Wright’s and Miller’s Guide”, to design his own revolutionary and innovative gristmill. 

The rectangular wooden block is approximately 2 ½” tall, 6 ¼” wide, and ¾” deep.
