Toile, the subtly elegant printed pattern that tells stories in engraving-like detail, brings history alive. By 1797, fashionable toile offered printed classical designs reminiscent of English paintings. Among the most popular images were pastorals reflecting a romantic view of country life such as these idyllic views of Mount Vernon with George and Martha Washington strolling on the estate.
The Mount Vernon Pink Toile mini plate or pin dish is 3 3/4” in diameter. Presented in a dark blue, satin lined gift box.
