MOUNT VERNON, Va. – If you are dreaming of a white Christmas and Mother Nature doesn’t deliver - consider a visit to Mount Vernon’s Donald W. Reynolds Education Center where the seats rumble and snow falls on the audience in the Revolutionary War Theater! Now through January 6, 2009, Mount Vernon is joyfully decking the halls for "Christmas at Mount Vernon," a special daytime program that includes a dozen themed Christmas trees, a gingerbread Mount Vernon created by former White House pastry chef Ronald Mesnier, historical chocolate-making demonstrations, 18th-century dancing, and a Christmas camel just like George Washington had on the grounds during Christmas 1787!
In addition to Mount Vernon’s holiday activities, visitors can tour the Mansion with its festive holiday setting and rarely-open third floor, and enjoy interactive exhibits, original movies, and hundreds of artifacts. Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens is one of the few attractions over Christmas and New Year’s from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission to the estate through December 31 is $13 for adults, $6 for children ages 6-11, and free for children under 6.
