This cup descended in the family of Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804).

Description

Circular cup with a plain rim, straight sides, and a C-shaped or ear-shaped handle with an inner loop at top, on an integral foot ring. The cup is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue enamel and overglaze gilt. Around the exterior is a continuous panel of thin, vertically-oriented, blue leaves outlined in gilt. A wide gilded band encircles the top and bottom of the cup and the back and sides of the handle.
