The Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association acquired this looking glass in 1906 with the understanding that it had been “used by General Washington during his lifetime”. Later research revealed that the profile of its frame as well as the materials used in its construction postdated Washington’s lifetime.

Vertical, rectangular looking glass with a narrow, gilded, cap molded frame.

The backboards are believed to be replacements.
