Chest of drawers with four cock-beaded, graduated depth drawers, a veneered top with applied ogee molding on the front and sides, an ogee and astragal base molding, and four block feet with casters. The top is flush with the back but overhangs on the front and sides. Each drawer has two brass bail handles and a pierced brass keyhole escutcheon (that on the third drawer has detached). The inside face of each drawer front is pinked or washed with a red stain.

Case Construction:
The case’s top and bottom are dovetailed to the sides. The top is formed from two boards, a narrow mahogany one at front and a wider white pine one at back. The drawer blades are joined to the sides with side supports set behind them in dadoes that run the full depth of the case. Veneer facing strips on the front of the case sides and blades conceal the joint. The side supports and the top sides of the case bottom have been planed down. Full height vertical drawer stops are glued to the inside of the case at the back corners. Two horizontal, rabbet-joined backing boards are affixed to the backs of the case tops, sides, and bottom. The base molding is glued to the case bottom. The feet are glued or screwed to the underside of the molding.

Drawer Construction:
The drawers exhibit dovetailed construction. Cock-beading is nailed to the drawer front edges. The undersides of the sideboards are hollowed out. The drawer bottoms have side-to-side grain orientation, beveled or feathered front and sides set into rabbets, and flush-nailed back edges. On the underside of the bottom of the third drawer, a deep, wide channel has been cut down the center, a screw inserted at the front of it, and six wedge-shaped glue blocks glued along the front center. They are reinforced along the sides with two-piece, full-length glue strips and along the front with a single glue strip.
