Position: Guest Services Staff (This position will rotate through various posts including: Ticket Agent, Ticket Scanner, Gate Attendant, Parking Attendant, Mansion Attendant, Usher-Theatre, Information Specialist-Information Desks, Museum Operations-Protective Services Specialist).

General Description:
Mount Vernon Guest Services Staff are located outside the Estate and in the Orientation and Education Centers. Guest Services Staff will rotate regularly between all of the various posts listed above. These posts require exceptional flexibility as incumbents must be in many places over short periods of time. Many duties are performed indoors under controlled temperatures; however, periodic work outdoors and in inclement weather will be required. Extended standing and walking on uneven, unpaved surfaces in a farm-like setting will be required. Uniform attire will be provided but must be maintained and worn to present a professional image.
Major Responsibilities for all Guest Services Positions:
Provide the first point of contact; warmly and actively greet visitors; Ensure compliance to external food/beverage policies; Demonstrate knowledge of the Estate, daily activities and resources to accommodate needs of guests; Provide information and directional assistance; Understand the roles of other departments; provide assistance as needed; Assist in providing a safe and secure environment for guests and employees; Oversee and protect Estate resources and maintain physical integrity of Estate; Clean-up designated post area throughout and at the completion of shift; Provide Guest Services support as assigned.
Additional Major Responsibilities for specific posts:
Welcome and actively greet visitors; Sell Tickets: Count Money, Process Credit Payments;
Process Group Sales; Welcome and actively greet visitors; Greet guests and take/scan tickets; Assist in loading and unloading of tour buses; Seat guests in an expedient and professional manner; Anticipate and respond to questions from guests Monitor guest conduct and provide assistance to guests when necessary; Proactively organize the traffic flow – prevent milling and congregating in a cheerful and helpful manner; Organize groups for entry into the mansion by a set number or by the open door method; Oversee and protect estate Collections, resources and items on loan; Maintain physical integrity of Estate.
Required Skills/Abilities for all Guest Services positions:
• Excellent customer service skills
• Outgoing and friendly demeanor required
• Must be able to communicate clearly and cheerfully in English
• Bending and stooping
• Walking and/or standing for long periods of time
Additional Skills/Ability Requirements for specific posts:
• Sitting for long periods of time
• Good math skills
• Regular use of a computer and computer peripherals (printers, scanners)
• Regular use of a hand-held ticket scanner
• Must be attentive to details and protective requirements
