The Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant, located at the entrance of George Washington’s Estate and Gardens, is hiring an Assistant Catering Manager.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Catering Manager will participate in all aspects of coordination and implementation of group luncheons. Responsibilities also entail assisting the Director of Catering with all corporate and social event logistics including: guest/client relations, acting point of contact for any external support service providers, tracking of invoices
and expenses, internal communications and providing administrative support. Rotatiing evening and weekend availability required.
Qualifications:
• Must be very organized, detail oriented and flexible
• Prior restaurant experience preferred, but not required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
• Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
• Must work well under pressure in a fast paced environment

Position: Building Services Supervisor
Department: Operations and Maintenance
George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate is seeking a lead Maintenance technician. Position entails Operational oversight, responsibility and Maintenance of all equipment, machines and tools including HVAC, electrical & utilities, plumbing systems, kitchen and refrigeration equipment. Hours: 1:00pm-9:30pm.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interviews, hires, supervises, and trains all personnel required for the operation of the custodial department (2 shifts); schedules staff, monitors hours, and prepares reports; Monitors utility usage, obtains purchase quotes; provides support and staff for events; Accurately records and Monitors repair activity and ensures equipment is maintained according to factory specifications; Recommend, implement and monitor formal preventive maintenance programs for all facility mechanical systems and audio visual equipment; Provides input on annual budget, and assists with activities of vendors and subcontractors; Maintenance of annual permit requirements (i.e. elevator, backflow inspection, life safety to include all alarms, etc); Assist in the development of a formal energy conservation plan including lighting upgrades, technology enhancements; Enforcement of established energy management directives; Monitor and administer organization policy and procedure requirements and oversee LEED objectives. All shifts require rotating weekend and holiday work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum five years experience in operation of a public/commercial facility
• Previous supervisory experience required
• Excellent customer service skills are a must
• Strong Organization and Issue resolution skills
• Excellent communication skills

Title: Groundskeeper (predominantly lawn and turf management and gardening)

This Full-time position requires a minimum of five years experience. The Groundskeeper performs routine grounds maintenance to Estate grounds, gardens, roads, woods, walks, paths, and property lines. Candidates must be able to perform routine lawn maintenance according to turf management program, perform tree and shrub planting, and assist gardeners with weeding, harvesting, and seed collection. Operation of farm and turf equipment is also required. This position is classified as essential and must participate in all emergencies, ice and snow removal, and special events. Occasional work on weekends and holidays is required.
