Dine Like a President! Mount Vernon’s New Farm to Table Event

Features Dinner with Produce from Washington’s Garden
September 29, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

MOUNT VERNON, VA – Mount Vernon invites guests to taste the season’s freshest ingredients with a dash of history during a new culinary event, Farm to Table, on Saturday, September 29, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event commences with a reception in the upper garden and historic area featuring Virginia wines and specialty drinks. From there guests will learn how food was grown, stored, and prepared for the Washington family through an exclusive tour of Mount Vernon’s historic area.  Following the tour, guests will enjoy a flavorful four-course dinner at the Mount Vernon Inn, featuring some products cultivated and produced on the Estate:

Hoecake Trio:
Asian Slaw with Crispy Duck
Country Ham, Fried Oyster & Hollandaise
Stewpot Greens with a Grilled Shrimp

Red & Gold Beet Salad
with Goat Cheese & Fried Okra Croutons Tossed in a Citrus Vinaigrette

Grilled Red Devon Filet Mignon
with Fresh Horseradish, Sweet Potato Spoon Bread, and Grilled Zucchini with Mint

Grilled Black Mission Figs with Gorgonzola Cheese & Honey

Tickets for Farm to Table are $175 and include tax and gratuity. This event is limited in capacity. Tickets may be purchased online at MountVernon.org or at the Ford Orientation Center’s ticket window.

Since 1860, more than 80 million visitors have made George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens the most popular historic home in America.  Through thought-provoking tours, entertaining events, and stimulating educational programs on the Estate and in classrooms across the nation, Mount Vernon strives to preserve George Washington’s place in history as “First in War, First in Peace, and First in the Hearts of His Countrymen.”  Mount Vernon is owned and operated by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, America’s oldest national preservation organization, founded in 1853.  A picturesque drive to the southern end of the scenic George Washington Memorial Parkway, Mount Vernon is located just 16 miles from the nation’s capital.

Hours of operation: April-August, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; March, September, October, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; November – February, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Regular admission rates: adults, $15.00; senior citizens, $14.00; children age 6-11, when accompanied by an adult, $7.00; and children under age 5, FREE.  Admission fees, restaurant and retail proceeds, along with private donations, support the operation and restoration of Mount Vernon.
