Position: 

Preventative Maintenance Mechanic/Lube Technician

Introduction: 
George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate, Museum and Gardens is seeking a self-motivated, energetic individual to assist with automotive and landscape equipment repairs.  The ideal candidate will provide great customer service as well as work independently.  
Part-time position (20 hours/week) will include some weekend and holiday work with a variable schedule.  Potential work hours: 2-8pm M-F and Saturday/Sunday 7:30am-4pm.  Employment will be contingent upon successful drug test and background investigation.  Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. 
Responsibilities:

- Assists in maintenance and repair of all automobiles, trucks, tractors, loaders, lawn maintenance equipment, farm equipment and spraying equipment

- Assists in the repairs of miscellaneous items such as tires, brakes, carburetors, water pumps, exhaust systems, spark plugs, light bulbs and lawn mower blades

- Assists with various procedures such as engine tune up, compression tests, electrical components and wiring tests, engine overhaul, all lubrication services, engine oil changes and cooling system tests

- Conducts all work in accordance with established procedures and guidelines

- Compiles daily record of all completed work orders and assigns budget codes to invoices

- Practices and maintains safety regulations and procedures both in/outside the shop and performs all duties in a safe manner
 
- Assists with coordination of vehicle/equipment work performed off the estate

- Performs related duties or special assignments as requested by supervisor 

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years combined experience in automobile mechanic and equipment maintenance trades
  • Knowledge of all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance 
  • Ability to read and understand automotive maintenance manuals and electrical schematic drawings
  • Exhibits manual dexterity and good judgment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good Communication skills both verbal and written

The high volume Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant located at the entrance of George Washington’s Estate and serving the visitors to the Estate and all of the Washington Metropolitan area, is seeking to fill Food server and Host/Hostess shifts.  FT and PT positions available.  Free meals, uniforms, parking, and flexible scheduling.  Benefits are available dependent on hours worked.
 
Responsibilities: 
Staff will participate in all aspects of coordination and implementation of food service and will be responsible for guest/client relations. 

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years food service or restaurant experience preferred
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and flexible
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Must work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
