The Library is committed to being a destination for all who are studying the life and career of George Washington and his plantation, Mount Vernon, by providing access to rich collections of primary and secondary materials in all formats; to serving the research needs of staff and visitors; and to providing responsible stewardship of our special collections. Our collections provide a continuous history of the Mount Vernon estate and its owners from the original land patent in 1674 up to the present day.
The library collections include books, newspapers, pamphlets, information files, audio-visual materials, manuscripts, rare books, maps, photographs, and the archives of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, the earliest national preservation organization and the oldest women's patriotic society in America.
Visit our Educational Resources section for more detailed information about Mount Vernon's library.
