Colonial Days is from 9:30 am- 1:00 pm weekdays. If you plan to attend Colonial Days, please email education@mountvernon.org with your name, school, date of visit, and number of students. Mount Vernon area (DC, MD, VA) schools will receive one free teacher admission per class when tickets are purchased upon arrival. There is no additional fee for Colonial Days.
Title One Grants for Colonial Days
Through the generous support of the Mars Family Foundation, Mount Vernon provides a $50.00 grant for each bus from qualified Title One public schools. Please call (703) 799-8604 to notify Mount Vernon staff of your Title One status. The grant will be mailed to your school principal approximately two weeks after your Colonial Days field trip.

Please leave a message at (703) 799-6821 with your school's arrival date, school name, phone number, and number of bags you wish to purchase. Upon arrival, proceed to The General's Store in the Ford Orientation Center to pay for your order. Payment needs to be made by one check payable to the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. Bags will be picked up as you exit the Education Center at the end of your visit.
Colonial Days Student Lunch Specials
Students are offered a $4.00 lunch box including:
- Chicken tenders
- French fries
- Jello cup
- 12 oz. fountain drink
Students must purchase food in order to use our dining facilities. To order boxed lunches, please call (703) 799-5225 at least two days in advance. Local Picnic Areas are also available nearby if students pack lunches.
