George Washington Teachers' Institute for Mount Vernon Area Educators
July 21-22, 2009
As a special opportunity to teachers who live in the greater Mount Vernon area, the George Washington Teachers' Institute is open to ALL educators every summer for an intensive two day program. Mount Vernon is pleased to partner with the White House Historical Association for this year's program, "Challenges of Nationhood," which will focus on the challenges of establishing a national identity, as well as crises faced during the Washington presidency. As always, there will be fabulous speakers, including Cokie Roberts, Catherine Allgor, and William Seale, special explorations of Mount Vernon and the new George Washington and His Generals exhibit, first person interpreter programs, an Open House in the Hearst Learning Center for Teachers, and a cocktail reception on the Piazza of Mount Vernon.
Registration is FULL for this program. Please note that due to the popularity of this program and to provide teachers on the waiting list a chance to attend, registered teachers who do not attend the Institute without prior cancellation will not be eligible for future Mount Vernon programs.
