Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 bunches red grapes, seedless preferred
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 7 whole cloves
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1/4 lemon
  • Pinch salt
  • Directions

    Wash grapes. Remove stems and seeds, if any, and eliminate any bruised grapes. Put grapes into crocks or jars of your choosing. Make sugar syrup by combining remaining ingredients and boil to soft ball stage (240 degrees). Pour syrup and seasonings over grapes, cover jar and chill for at least 1 day. Will keep several weeks in refrigerator. Serve with your favorite pate, melba toast and a sauterne wine.
