Ingredients

  • 6 slices bread (no crusts)
  • 1 pound sausage meat, cooked and broken into small pieces
  • 1/2 pound shredded Swiss cheese
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Few grinds of pepper
  • Directions

    Put bread in a 10x6x1 1/2-inch buttered caserole. Cover with sausage and cheese. Mix eggs, cream, salt, Worcestershire, nutmeg and pepper. Pour over casserole. Let stand several hours. Cook at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
