Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1/3 cup chopped celery
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoons curry powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 package frozen peas, partially defrosted
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Directions

    Combine first 7 ingredients. Mix well. Melt butter in large frying pan. Spoon rounded tablespoons of meat mixture into frying pan. Cook and brown on all sides, turning as needed. Remove from pan, place in casserole and keep warm. Make sauce.

    Serves 6 to 8
