In addition to displaying its holdings on the Estate, Mount Vernon, from time to time, has organized temporary exhibitions, such as Treasures from Mount Vernon: George Washington Revealed (1999-2000), Profile of a Patriot (1999), and Saving Mount Vernon: The Birth of Preservation in America (2003), which it travels to other sites.
Our new museum, which opened to the public in October 2006, features a changing exhibitions gallery that provides the Mount Vernon staff the opportunity to organize temporary exhibitions on a variety of themes. You can view highlights of these special exhibitions by clicking the links at left.
