MOUNT VERNON, Va. Mount Vernon offers an exciting new way to piece together the past and learn about George Washington with a fun and interactive Archaeology Concentration Game featured on its website, www.mountvernon.org. The concentration game brings 18th-century objects to a 21st-century audience by matching pictures of artifacts found on the estate by Mount Vernon’s archaeologists! After matching the artifacts players move to the Artifact Lab, where they can learn about the objects they just paired together through streaming audio, pictures, and information from Mount Vernon’s archaeologists.

Players can learn about items such as a lost key, George Washington’s nameplate, a comb, and figurines in the Artifact Lab.  The game features three levels for all skill sets and players can submit their names and scores to the website. The game is a permanent addition to www.mountvernon.org, which will be adding more educational games in the future.

“The Archaeology Concentration Game is a great outlet to help educate a new generation on Washington’s life and Mount Vernon,” said Ann Bay, Associate Director of Mount Vernon for Education.
