From June 16 to Sept 21, 2008 there will be one open lane around the traffic circle. This will directly impact where busses unload passengers. Traffic management personnel will direct busses to a safe area within easy walking distance to the entrance for unloading. Once unloaded, busses will park along highway 235 South,
Bus unloading schedule:
Buses are permitted to stop to unload passengers at the Circle in front of the Main Gate at the Mount Vernon Estate. The Circle is for unloading only. Parking and standing is prohibited.
Buses are permitted to park in these designated areas:
- At the Mount Vernon Estate, parking is allowed in the designated lane west of the Circle along Route 235; the lane is marked with “Bus Parking Only” signs.
- At the Gristmill, a limited amount of parking is allowed in the lot, along the yellow painted curb; the curb is marked with “Bus Parking Only” signs.
Buses are not permitted to idle in excess of 10 minutes in any location. Bus drivers found in violation of the bus idling rule will receive a warning; any driver found to violate the rule after receiving a warning will be directed to remove his or her bus from the parking area immediately.
Your bus driver and licensed tour operator are always welcomed at Mount Vernon. They will each receive free admission and a 50% meal discount at the food court with identification.
