General Description:
The Webmaster will be responsible for the design, maintenance, update and management of George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate Web site and all other related services.
Responsibilities: Working closely with various departments to assist in daily Web site related operational procedures including: Solicit, design, develop, deliver and update web content specific to fine arts collections, images, video, as well as events and activities; Develop and maintain site navigational structure, templates, pages and graphics presentation; Write and update web publishing policies and provide related training; Gatekeeper for all new content posting; Utilize user test info. and site traffic analysis to improve site functionality; Publish content enabling various functionality including
sharing, tagging, rating, repurposing, editing and exporting as well as ability to Collaborate on SEO;Ensure extensive user functionality including but not limited to: retail transactions and inventory, donations and memberships, user registrations and promoting membership opportunities;Monitor work processes identifying opportunities for improvement; Develop new media, including digital video, podcasts, blogs, and RSS feeds; Work collaboratively with various revenue driving departments.
Qualifications:
• Expert in evolving technical standards such as HTML, HTTP, XML, PHP, Flash and CSS
• Social Network-savvy
• Significant experience with various programming languages, Drupal content management system and Microsoft SQL
database query and reporting
• Knowledge of Linux and Microsoft Windows Server OS
• Certification by the International Webmasters Association
• Degree in CS, Software Engineering or related experience with emphasis on business writing
• Detail oriented, Ability to effectively analyze, prioritize and problem solve
• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently in a timely manner
• Excellent verbal & written communications skills and a courteous professional demeanor

Position: Lead Maintenance Technician
Department: Operations and Maintenance
General Description:
Mount Vernon’s Operations and Maintenance Department is seeking a lead maintenance technician to assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical, heating, air conditioning, domestic water and various other systems. This position includes housing on the estate, however relocation expenses will be the responsibility of the employee. The position supervises a staff of four technicians.
Essential Functions:
• Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, pumps, motors, valves, security and fire alarm equipment and HVAC equipment and controls
• Various maintenance tasks including electrical and HVAC diagnostics, installing piping & electrical wiring, digging trenches, working with sewer tanks, drainage, and pumping equipment, assembling scaffolding/rigging, and setup and operation of audio/visual equipment
• Conducts all work/orders in accordance with documented procedures and guidelines and compiles a daily record
• Assists contractors with service projects and installations
• Operates, maintains and secures tools and equipment
• Practices, maintains and enforces safety regulations and procedures
• Assists with requirements for estate special events
• Performing preventive maintenance and repairs to all electrical systems
• Installing breakers and panels
• Perform new circuitry load calculations and electrical surveys
• Maintain and replace dimming systems, fan motors, and UPS systems.
• Perform conduit configuration and installations, generator testing, fire alarm testing and repair of switchgear, and interior and exterior lighting inventory and maintain stock of electrical supplies
Qualifications:
• Must have 7+ years of experience in electrical, emergency power systems, energy management, general repairs and fire safety
• Ability to read and understand MEP and architectural drawings
• Must possess good written and verbal communication skills
• Works independently and with a minimum of supervision
• Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
• Knowledge of life safety codes preferred
• Valid driver’s license required
Special Requirements:
Position requires standing/walking for long periods of time, entering dark, dusty and close spaces, using solvents, lubricants, adhesives and other hazardous materials, and exposure to all weather conditions; Weekend and holiday work and rotating 24 hour duty shift required ; Position is classified as essential and requires participation in all emergencies, ice and snow removal and special events
