TITLE: Audio Visual Specialist

General Description:
This position has primary responsibility for all of the audio visual equipment and services employed on the estate.  The Audio Visual Specialist will work closely with many departments to operate, maintain and support the interactive, multimedia venues located in various buildings, as well as provide presentation support for all departments. Full time position requires availability for non-traditional work hours including early mornings, late evenings, holidays and weekends.  Occasional on-call availability is also required.

Responsibilities:
Ability to handle multiple audio visual systems responsibilities including: Apply upgrades, replacements, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting for theater projection systems in several buildings as well as digital displays and exhibits; Configure and troubleshoot audio visual presentation and video teleconferencing systems; Respond to support
requests and provide accurate, professional solutions for issues including requirements by internal staff, outside guests and lecturers with presentations setup and completion; Learn operation of new equipment, document usage procedures,train operations staff.

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:

• 5+ years experience managing audio and video conferencing, broadcast technologies, presentation and conference room setup and coordination
• Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of: projectors, screens, SmartBoards, monitor displays, recording equipment, equalizers/mixer boards, wired and wireless microphones, amplifiers, speaker arrays, wiring/cabling and  computerized controls
• Must be able to configure and troubleshoot interpretive, multimedia exhibits and systems, preferably within museum or other institutional settings including visitor/orientation centers
• Knowledge of state of the art digital projection equipment including digital cinema systems
• Proficiency in personal computer, MS office suite and IP networking
• Proven computer hardware and software troubleshooting skills
• Previous experience with AMX and Tandberg systems a plus
• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously & complete daily work assignments in a timely manner

Position:         Adminstrative Manager 

Department:   Operations and Maintenance Department  

General Description:
The Administrative Manager position is key to the success of estate-wide telecommunications, extensive inter-departmental interactions and the administrative operations of the multi-project O&M Department.  This position supports the Directors of O&M, Horticulture and Preservation, and supervises one administrative assistant.

Responsibilities:
Telecommunications:  All facets inclusive of Telephone switch, voicemail, cabling, troubleshooting and repairs, as well as moves and changes; Maintains database of all estate numbers; Orders equipment, service; and distributes telephone books.

Administration: Provides all functions for O&M department including correspondence; files and recordkeeping; scheduling; personnel actions; staff assistance; oversees orders, deliveries and vendor management; Oversees O&M’s vehicle and uniform programs including ordering, outfitting, and maintaining inventory;  Coordinates all estate carpet and window cleaning as requested; Maintains department radio inventory; orders parts and service;  Assists with monitoring and operating estate’s two-way radio system; Coordinates estate-wide paper recycling; Compiles the O&M agenda, awards, and  minutes for board meetings, Assists in O&M’s support of private evening tours and special event requirements; Assists with screening and routing of routine and emergency telephone and radio calls, visitors, contractors, couriers, and service requests and provides follow-up; Oversees TMA service requests and regularly updates TMA system with employee information.

Accounting: Annually processes O&M and Preservation budgets; Provides budget estimates; Compiles monthly billings sent to other departments; Prepares biweekly time and attendance payroll information and maintains leave records; Processes petty cash and check requests, purchase requisitions and invoices.


Fire, Rescue & First Responder Program: In conjunction with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, coordinates the estate’s volunteer first responder program and fire department training by planning monthly meetings, overseeing training and certification programs; Oversees the blood borne pathogen program and coordinates testing and
immunizations with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Four years administrative experience in building maintenance or construction
• Minimum Two years experience using Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with constantly changing priorities
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with all matters

George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens seeks applicants for the full-time position of Special Collections Librarian.  The Special Collections Librarian has responsibility for collection development and assessment in the areas of rare books, manuscripts, maps, and archives and for negotiating acquisitions for gifts and purchases.  S/he participates in donor outreach efforts and the identification and application for external, private funding opportunities.  S/he provides public service assistance to library users; promotes awareness and use of special collections to students and researchers at Mount Vernon and beyond; and works with the Head Librarian on strategic planning for bibliographic control and development of these resources.  Mount Vernon is planning for a new library building with expanded services and collections and is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and committed librarian, who can actively work to acquire items that complement and augment existing collections; to conserve and preserve special materials; and to improve patron access our unique and historic library collections.

Mount Vernon is planning for a new library building with expanded services and collections and is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and committed librarian, who can improve access to our unique and historic library collections.

Position:         Data Entry Assistant

Historic Mount Vernon seeks a temporary full-time Data Entry Assistant to aid in a collections online initiative that is scheduled for completion in 2011.  Working with the Collections Manager and curatorial staff, the Assistant will be responsible for inputting and editing electronic records in the collections management database and managing the
physical files. The incumbent will use collections files to edit, update and create electronic collections records; this will involve inputting curatorial and collections management information including interpretive text, accession history, locations and conservation treatment records.

Qualifications:  B.A. in relevant field, attention to detail, and proficiency with computers and databases required; museum experience preferred.  Experience with: Discovery/FoxPro and/or TMS as well experience and/or interest in American material culture a plus.

The Webmaster will be responsible for the design, maintenance, update and management of George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate Web site and all other related services.

Responsibilities:  Working closely with various departments to assist in daily Web site related operational procedures including: Solicit, design, develop, deliver and update web content specific to fine arts collections, images, video, as well as events and activities; Develop and maintain site navigational structure, templates, pages and graphics presentation; Write and update publishing policies and provide related training; Utilize user test info. and site traffic analysis to improve site functionality; Enable functionality including sharing, tagging, rating, repurposing, editing and exporting as well as ability to collaborate on SEO; Ensure user functionality including: retail transactions, inventory, donations, memberships, user registrations and promoting membership opportunities; Monitor work processes identifying opportunities for improvement;  Develop new media, including digital video, podcasts, blogs, and RSS feeds.

Qualifications:
 Expert in evolving technical standards such as HTML, HTTP, XML, PHP, Flash and CSS

TITLE:               Supervisor, Revenue Audit 

DEPARTMENT:  Finance

General Description: 
The Supervisor, Revenue Audit is responsible for the review of daily batch summaries prepared by the cashiers based on all income receipts submitted from various departments on the estate.  The individual also supervises two cashier positions.  The role is a key independent internal control to ensure that all visitor income receipts are recorded, accurately accounted for and deposited.

Responsibilities: 
Review daily batch summaries prepared by cashiers;  Ensure daily totals from each department are balanced to cash, checks and credit card receipts;  Prepare and input journal entries recording daily transactions as well as capture accurate attendance numbers from daily batch sheets and enter all into Great Plains accounting system;  Produce weekly  and monthly attendance and revenue reports; Obtain a strong working knowledge of internal procedures utilized by various departments to ensure accurate controls over cash and reconciliations with system-generated data (cash registers, etc.); Obtain understanding of internal ticketing system to enable research into tour group deposits, online ticketing purchases, and actual attendance; Prepare monthly customer billing statements; Ensure accurate posting of billing and payment information into GP subsidiary ledgers; Reconcile GP general ledger accounts with subsidiary ledgers and research and resolve differences; Take appropriate action on outstanding receivables; Follow estate document retention policy and maintain organized physical and electronic files; Review check requests for proper fund and account coding; Supervise two cashiers and fill in as needed.
 
Qualifications:
 Bachelors Degree in Accounting, or equivalent experience
• Minimum five years of accounting experience, including minimum of two years in a supervisory role
• Previous experience in an automated accounting environment is required; experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) preferred
• Extensive experience with Excel spreadsheets and MS Office Suite
• Experience with Accounts Receivable and cash handling desirable
• Must be organized, analytical, accurate, detail-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and able to complete work assignments in a timely manner

Position: Maintenance Technician

General Description:
Mount Vernon’s Operations and Maintenance Department is seeking a technician to assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical, heating, air conditioning, domestic water and various other systems.

Essential Functions :
-
Performing preventive maintenance and repairs to all electrical systems
- Installing breakers, panel equipment
- Perform new circuitry load calculations and electrical surveys
- Maintain and replace dimming systems, fan motors, and UPS systems
- Perform conduit configuration and installations, generator testing, fire alarm testing and repair of switchgear, and MCC’s interior and exterior lighting
- Inventory and maintain stock of electrical supplies
- Assist HVAC staff with troubleshooting and repairs of building equipment and maintain/repair of commercial kitchen equipment  
- Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, pumps, motors,  valves, security and fire alarm equipment and HVAC equipment and controls
- Installation and repair of various equipment and materials
- Various maintenance tasks including electrical and hvac diagnostics, installing piping & electrical wiring, digging trenches, working with sewer tanks, drainage, and pumping equipment, assembling scaffolding/rigging, and setup and operation of audio/visual equipment
- Conducts all work/orders in accordance with documented procedures and guidelines and compiles a daily record
- Assists contractors with service projects and installations
- Operates, maintains and secures tools and equipment
- Practices, maintains and enforces safety regulations and procedures
- Assists with requirements for estate special events and projects and other duties

Special Requirements:
- Position requires standing/walking for long periods of time, entering dark, dusty and close spaces, using solvents, lubricants, adhesives and other hazardous materials, and exposure to all weather conditions
- Weekend and holiday work required
- Position is classified as essential and requires participation in all emergencies, ice and snow removal and special events

Qualifications:

  • Must have Five+ years of experience in electrical, emergency power systems, energy management general repairs and fire safety
  • A minimum of five years of combined experience in electrical and HVAC trades
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Works independently and with a minimum of supervision

Responsibilities:
