How to Apply

Applications are now being accepted for 2014 fellowships from The Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon. Short- and long-term awards are available for doctoral candidates at the dissertation stage, PhDs, and individuals with standing as advanced scholars in relevant fields.

To apply, please provide your:

  1. Curriculum vitae
  2. 1,500-word fellowship proposal highlighting how you intend to use the collection and research assets of The Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington
  3. Two letters of recommendation to be sent confidentially to Mount Vernon by the references.

The application must be received by November 15, 2013. Applications will be reviewed by a highly-regarded panel of scholars assembled by Mount Vernon. Awardees will be notified on or before George Washington’s birthday, February 22, 2014.
