Thomas Branagan

An indentured joiner that worked at Mount Vernon from 1784 until 1787, Branagan appears to have began working for Washington in the summer of 1784. Branagan arrived at Mount Vernon after being hired from a ship that had just landed in Baltimore from Ireland.1 George Augustine Washington paid Branagan four pounds, ten shillings on August 3rd, 1787, "at the expiration of his indentures."2
