Mount Vernon members are a committed group of donors from across the country who are dedicated to preserving George Washington’s estate and legacy. Their generous annual membership contributions are a critical element of support for the preservation of Washington’s beloved home and historic estate and grounds, as well as educational programs that take Mount Vernon – and all that it stands for – beyond the estate walls and into schools across America. A portion of the Friends membership contribution is tax deductible.
The Neighborhood Friends of Mount Vernon live in the 22309, 22308 or 22121 area code of Virginia. These area codes represent the original five farms of Washington’s estate. Membership contributions to the Neighborhood Friends go toward a specific sponsored project at Mount Vernon. Currently the Neighborhood Friends are sponsoring the restoration and stabilization of the East Lawn Slope. In the past the Neighborhood Friends have supported restoration of the Greenhouse Slave Quarters, the Blacksmith Endowment Fund and Restoration, restoration of the Gardener’s House, Seawall and Spinning House, and many more important projects. Like, the Friends of Mount Vernon, a portion of the Neighborhood Friends membership contributions are tax deductible.
In lieu of membership, general donations can be made to support Mount Vernon’s mission of preserving George Washington’s home and educating visitors and guest around the world about his life and legacy. We truly depend on the generous contributions of our donors, as Mount Vernon does not accept any government funding. Mount Vernon is a 501(c(3) not-for-profit organization, and all donations fully are tax-deductible to the extend allowed by law.
