Mount Vernon celebrates Veteran’s Day November 11 by admitting active duty, retired, and former military personnel free-of-charge. Special activities include a patriotic community concert by the all-veteran barbershop chorus The Harmony Heritage Singers at 11:00 a.m. (free to the public), and a 2:00 p.m. wreathlaying at the tomb of our first commander-in-chief, George Washington. New this year: the United States Air Force String Orchestra performs the “Music of George Washington’s World” at 3:00 p.m. in the Robert H. & Clarice Smith Auditorium (free to the public). The wreathlaying is included with regular Mount Vernon admission: $15 for adults, $7 for children ages 6-11, and free for children under 6.
