The National Treasure Tour at Mount Vernon

Due to the popularity of Mount Vernon’s special “Basement Tours” in January and February, the Estate has created an entire “National Treasure Tour” where visitors can take an hour-long walking tour that includes behind-the-scenes information about areas where “National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets” filming took place and how these locations were used during George Washington’s time.

Gardener’s House Grand Opening

Is Mount Vernon Burning?
April 12 - 13, 2008
In April 1781, while Washington was fighting to save the colonies, the British were closing in on Mount Vernon. Lund Washington, who oversaw the Estate while Washington was at war, received a threat from the British – give in to the British demand for goods or Mount Vernon will be burned to the ground! On April 12 & 13 visitors can watch this dramatic piece of Mount Vernon’s history during the “Is Mount Vernon Burning?” program.
