Mount Vernon by Candlelight takes place on November 27, 28 & 29; December 4, 5 & 6; and December 11, 12 & 13
"Mrs. Washington" hosts an enchanting evening of candlelit tours, fireside Christmas caroling, and hot cider and ginger cookies. The Mount Vernon by Candlelight tour includes the first and second floors, featuring characters from the Washingtons' world guiding visitors through the home and adding ambiance and authenticity to a traditional Christmas evening at Mount Vernon. more
Special Scouting Day Celebration Saturday, November 7
Mount Vernon kicks off Scouting Days on November 7 with special activities from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Scouts have an opportunity to learn more about colonial life through hands-on projects and stations on surveying, woodworking, textile-making, farming, and cooking. Demonstrations with livestock and blacksmithing are also offered. more
Veterans Day
November 11
Mount Vernon celebrates Veteran’s Day November 11 by admitting active duty, retired, and former military personnel free-of-charge. Special activities include a patriotic community concert by the all-veteran barbershop chorus The Harmony Heritage Singers, a wreathlaying at the tomb, and the United States Air Force String Orchestra performing the “Music of George Washington’s World” in the Robert H. & Clarice Smith Auditorium (free to the public). more
National Treasure Tour
November 1 - December 31
11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
During the "National Treasure Tour” visitors can take an hour-long walking tour that includes behind-the-scenes information about areas where “National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets” filming took place and how these locations were used during George Washington’s time. more
